Anneke Rees holds more than 30 years of experience in the non-profit and health care systems, including as a palliative care paid-trainer and volunteer, and on staff as a former Leader of Volunteer Resources for Providence Health Care - St. Paul's Hospital, Vancouver.
She has an MA in Leadership and Training from Royal Roads University, and a Certificate in Volunteer Management.
Anneke currently offers professional support through her own consultancy (www.annekereesconsulting.com) and is a co-facilitator of Death Cafes. She is a presenter on End-of-Life subject matter and is an instructor in Simon Fraser University's Liberal Arts 55+ program.
She has been a member of the Canadian College of Health Leaders and a coach in their Executive Mentorship Program. Conference presentations include Patient Experience West 2014.
Tom Esakin is an interfaith spiritual director, formally-trained through Jubilee Associates Ontario (www.jubileeassociates.ca) and in Death Vigiling (Sacred Presence with the dying) through the Sacred Dying Foundation (www.sacreddying.org). He is the interfaith spiritual director at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Vancouver (http://stpaulsanglican.bc.ca/site1/pastoral-care-2/julian-of-norwich-spiritual-companioning-ministry-at-st-pauls/), a member of Spiritual Directors International (www.sdiworld.org), and has a registered spiritual companioning practice through Reflective Presence Ministry (www.reflectivementoring.com). Tom brings a breadth of interfaith knowledge and practice to his interfaith spiritual companioning. He is at home in: Christian ecumenism, Buddhism – the Theravada tradition, Sufism - Universal Sufism, Agnosticism and Atheism. Tom holds a general, practiced, understanding of Judaism and Hinduism. From SFU (www.sfu.ca) he holds a minor in Philosophy focussed on ethics. Tom is also trained as a Reiki Level II practitioner through Reiki Master Christine Crawford of Wildflower Reiki (www.christinacrawford.ca/wildflower-reiki/) and holds a Master’s degree in Sustainable Development from Staffordshire University, U.K (www.staffs.ac.uk). As an Educator in Sustainability he is experienced in university-level instruction, curriculum design, and public speaking, including with foreign trained professionals from over 40 countries and 6 continents.
